Who We Are

As an official 501(c)(3), Giving A Leg Up (GALUP) supports women transitioning from incarceration to independence through a unique equine program. At Lowell Correctional in Ocala, FL, the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) has offered equine training to women residents for over 20 years, teaching horsemanship skills and providing therapeutic growth. Upon release, these women often leave with little more than a bus ticket and $50. That’s where GALUP steps in—offering safe housing, job placement, and continued equine education to ensure a successful reentry into society.
